Welcome to Our Web Site

Anchorage, Alaska

It was about 6 p.m. when we arrived in Anchorage.   Checked in at the Captain Cook hotel.   It was a huge room with a bathroom about 8 times the size of the one on the Sea Princess.   We found a Japanese restaurant in the yellow pages and grapped a taxi.   The food was so, so but not nearly as “rich” as that on the ship.

Up early the next morning, we were off to the Alaska Native Heritage Center.   There was a song and dance show that was interesting.   After that we walked the grounds and seeing the displays for learning more of the Alaska natives.   There was many “fireweed” plants there. This Alaskan plant blooms on an upright stalk from the bottom up.   When all the blooms have opened, the first snowfall is to happen in six weeks.

We spent the afternoon walking around Anchorage and checking out their stores.   These following pictures were taken from 10:30 p.m. to close to midnight.   We never saw the sun go down.   Sunset was about 12:30 a.m. and sunrise was 3:30 a.m.

Everyone has heard of the Iditarod Dogsled Race. It starts at one location for television then restarts in Wasilla for real.
