Glaciers of College Fjords

The glaciers of College Fjord were all named for the Ivy League Colleges by the Harriman Expedition that discovered them in 1899.   Harvard Glacier is the largest and most famous of the College Fjord glaciers and is the one most cruise ships choose to stop at and admire.   College Fjord's beauty is renowned not only for the glaciers but also for the majestic mountains that line this area and set it off from the rest of Prince William Sound.   The weather was a little better here than in Glacier Bay.   Frankly, I enjoyed College Fjord more than Glacier Bay although they are both beautiful.   Had the weather been outstanding, it would probably impossible to say which was best.   The colleges for which these glaciers are named are: Wellesley, Barnard, Vassar, Bryn Mawr, Baltimore, Smith and Harvard.   It is most difficult to tell which is which in the photos.   The names that pop up with the hover of the mouse arrow are the best that I can tell.   The last photo is of a harp seal relaxing on a piece of floating ice.
